Is your makeup making you look old?

Makeup is such a beautiful thing. But too much of it can make you look older than what’s on your drivers license. The best case scenario in life is to preserve and protect your skin so you don’t have to paint your face like you’re going into battle. (see Kim K below)  But, life doesn’t always turn out the way we planned. We All have skin conditions due to lack of knowledge, and sign of aging. Some have genetic conditions like redness or melasma that make us feel like we need coverage.  Here are some tips to keep you looking fresh.

Avoid dark harsh eye makeup

Lose the cakey foundation and powder

*She’s got it both wrong ;)

Heavily lined lips

Beautasia note: Remember to be age appropriate

Overly plucked eyebrows can age you

The winning look that pulls you all together. Is fresh, classy and never overdone. (I just love her. muuuuah)

Makeup Tips

Make-up has been around through the ages allowing the wearer to present themselves as “more attractive”. During the turn of the century women and men alike had the pale look. Maybe they were inspired by vampire’s ;)

Looking pale was thought to be elite or the look of royalty. Having color to the skin meant you were a peasant working in the fields. People of that era did crazy things to give them the almost-dead look. Some even drank poisons such as strychnine to give them a ghostly glow. While others covered them selves with lead paint to look sheik. The 1920’s were fun. It was the beginning of woman’s liberation and we started seeing more form-fitting dresses and makeup trends were dark and heavy around the eyes using products such as shoe polish. I guess you can say that’s where the original “Smokey” eye was invented. As we approached the 50’s, this makeup trend became the “classic beauty” makeup of movie star sirens like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

We see modern day variations of the makeup style on artists like Megan Fox, and Gwen Stefani.

Towards the end of the century is when the healthy look came into play and tanned movie vixen’s like Farrah Fawcett’s

look and hair style became popular in the 70’s. Current trends are always a modification of the past. Look at trends today. I guarantee, you’ve seen something like it before. Have some fun and try and recreate your own retro look.
