Our skin is reproducing cells every day. The skin we see and feel are just a bunch of dead skin cells that need to be remove to freshen the skin to allow products to penetrate and make it glow.
Soon after I had my son I developed dark (like sun spots) on my forehead, cheeks and chin. What should I do? I feel like I look much older than 36. I’m concerned about the chemicals in lightening products. Any suggestions- I don’t like having to wear heavier foundation.
Hi Regena,
Thanks for your question. That condition sounds like Melasma. Also know as the “pregnancy mask” Professionals in the skincare field think that this is related to a hormonal imbalance. Be aware melasma is VERY difficult to treat. But rest assured natural skin lightening ingredients like Arbutin slows down the melanocyte activity. Ingredients like , lemon, licorice and kojic acid are also very good alternatives. (google meladerm) ALWAYS ALWAYS reapply an SPF of 30 or higher every two hours and wear a hat. The sun exacerbates this condition. Look in your drug store isles for a green base primer before applying your foundation, this will help conceal the spots better than heavy foundation. Please let me know if you find this information helpful, and message me back when you find something that helps.

Hi Beautasia!
I’m looking forward to a week-long yoga retreat in beautiful Tulum, Mexico in early August (yay!), but am afraid I’ll be unable to avoid a ton of sun exposure. Any tips on how to take care of my skin before, during, and after the event?
Oooh, sounds wonderful!
Yes, you want to avoid products that have acids such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic and retin A’s at least two weeks before. Be sure to get a big brimmed hat if you’ll be out hiking. I heard Gap had some cute ones right now. And always always re-appy SPF of 30 or higher every two hours. I know it sounds like a lot of work but you’ll need to be diligent about this. Color Science has a powder SPF that colorless you can check out at http://www.colorescience.com/
Good Luck, and check back in with me after the retreat!
